WATER Northern Rivers Alliance
A non-politically aligned alliance of citizens and groups who want
a complimentary mix of modern water options for the Rous region
which does not include the destructive Dunoon Dam.
Our region can be a leader in diverse and drought-resilient water options,
while preserving cultural heritage and environment.
Our communities are calling for vision, action and collaboration
for a more secure and sustainable water future.
We are committed to a water system fit for the 21st century,
one we can be proud of.
We are growing rapidly as communities become aware of this crucial turning point for our region.
In addition to individual supporters, we currently have seven supporter groups:
Djaning Water Action Group, Lismore Environment Centre, Rocky Creek Guardians, Nimbin Environment Centre, Lismore Knitting Nannas, Northern Rivers Guardians and Byron Environment Centre.
WATER Northern Rivers Alliance launched its campaign in Lennox Head in October.
Spokesperson Annie Kia spoke about who we are, what we stand for, and what our vision is.

Since the Dunoon Dam was proposed so many years ago, a whole new world has opened up.
New technologies, new efficiencies and a new appetite amongst decision-makers to speed the transition to smart water systems.
We urge Rous County Council to seize these opportunities. The time has come to cease spending money on last-century’s dam, and to create a water system fit for the 21st century.
WATER Northern Rivers Alliance wants to collaborate with Rous to ensure a resilient water system for the Northern Rivers.
The proposed Dunoon Dam site is on Wijabal Wia-bal land. We acknowldege and pay our respects to those who have cared for this place with such wisdom and connection for forever. The wider Rous-supplied region covers large part of the Bundjalung Nation.
